Sandi is an award-winning multi-published author, a publisher and an acquisitions editor for Tulpen Publishing. She has been editing since 1999 and has also done ghostwriting projects for picture book texts.
Sandi’s work has appeared in Christian Woman Magazine, Affaire de Coeur, Sister Triangle and Writer's Digest. Several of her short stories have won prizes, including first place in the Affaire de Coeur short story competition in 2004 and first place in the Inspirational Reader's Choice Awards in 2016. Her novels have also won many awards which are listed on the Professional Honors tab.
Sandi has spoken at Christian ladies retreats in the United States and Europe, where she lived in Holland for thirteen years. She now lives in Colorado with her husband, four children, a cat and too many spiders.
Sandi didn't always want to be a writer. She had other plans. Like becoming an actress or a singer. Once she hit college, she decided acting and singing weren’t for her. But there was always one constant: writing.
When she was in fifth grade, she wrote a poem that an adult didn’t believe she wrote. Sandi was shocked by his accusation because she had indeed written the poem all by herself. At the time, she didn’t realize his accusation was a compliment.
Sandi also wrote some short stories for a project in Junior High. The teacher thought one of her stories was true and shared with the class how important it is that we “write what we know.” While that is true, Sandi destroyed her point when she announced that the story was actually fiction. The teacher wasn't too happy with her after that. However, by this time Sandi was old enough to see the compliment.
In high school, after convincing her mom that the 17 absences she had in English were a computer glitch (she still had an "A"), you'd think she would have realized she had a knack for words and for "telling stories." So, here she is. She strikes the keys on her magic keyboard and ancient ruins emerge to life and fierce warriors take beautiful heroines captive.
P.S. Sandi is also a cancer survivor. You can read more about her cancer story on her BLOG.
